* Note on the band's name
For several years, we were known (OK, "known" is perhaps too generous a word) as Poison Stream. This name was adopted as an homage to U2, whose song "Running To Stand Still" contains a line about taking "poison from the poison stream." This is cool and everything (especially the part where we got to say "homage"), but for most people the name was more likely to conjure up Poison, the 80's hair metal band, and would therefore prompt horrified reactions to our very non-80s-hair-metal appearance and/or requests for songs like "Talk Dirty to Me," "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," or even "Dr. Feelgood," which was, of course, not Poison, but Mötley Crüe. Weary of this confusion, we also learned that we were unable to occupy the MySpace, uh, space alloted to "Poison Stream," as this was also the name of a self-described "Southern Grunge Metal" outfit whose music bears little in common with our own sound, to put it mildly. Moreover, we also discovered the fact that none us particularly liked the name Poison Stream and undertook a months-long debate over a new name. This led us to several long and fruitless discussions over the relative virtues of such unlikely choices as Lüftwaffle and Clyde's Got the Syrup before we settled on Narrative Feed, which suggests our proclivities for storytelling and alternately refers to the dissemination of digital information over the airwaves and the Midwestern fondness for "feeds" of all kinds (e.g., pancake, spaghetti, and such). So there you go.
